Homemade cosmetics....

Post by Bok bok bok »

Does anyone have any recipies for homemade lotions or nice things?

Good quality hand/face creams are really expensive any ideas for homemade versions that are cheap and natural?

yes, an extremely uncomplicated recipe for hand and body lotion:
olive oil, pure and simple.
I've used olive oil as a moisturiser for years on myself and its fab, but it's also wonderfully gentle on baby's bums and kids.
Added benefit of being unscented too.
Cheap and very environmentally friendly.

Olive Oil mixed with sugar to a stiff crumbly paste makes a lucious (sp?) body scrub use it after washing and pat gently dry Bliss

I would defo use homemade over shop bought cosmetics and have been looking for a book on how to make your own.
I don't use make up but do use a daily face cream as I do suffer with dry skin on my forehead and would love to be able to make my own which I am sure would help instead of all the additives you get in shop bought ones (even if you go for natural ones!)

I know you can make your own soap but need to add Castile soap or something like that!

Heres one for you:

Honey Hair Conditioner
Ingredients
1/2 cup honey
2 to 4 TBS olive oil (depending on hair type, use lesser amount for oily hair)

Directions:
Mix together the olive oil and honey then massage well into your hair until evenly covered.
Cover your head with a shower cap and allow the honey treatment to set for 30 minutes.
Wash & shampoo hair very well and rinse thoroughly.

engine oil and occasionally chilli sauce (if I fall asleep in my kebab). I actually use the hand cream supplied at work if I get any dry spots; as for random moisturising, no thank you I know which pitch I’m batting on. Also negative on anything that either covers grey hair or baldness; I am both grey and suffering from expanding scalp syndrome and don’t care. I did once exfoliate, although it was very localised and more to do with my face meeting the pavement after a bicycle balance failure incident than any cosmetic products.

I use a mixture of honey and olive oil as face moisturizer...but lately I've been using coconut oil, all over. I learned that it can actually repair cells~

I do use store bought under-eye concealer but for a face powder, I use a good brush and corn flour~dip and tap brush; you only need a touch to take any shine away~ it costs next to nothing and is all natural :-D
