Any ideas what this is ?
Any ideas what this is ?These holes appeared on the grass between two allotments. There is no earth scattered on the top as you can see and there seems to be a tunnel.
The holes are roughly the size of a 50 pence piece and there are only the two. We are curious .We are used to rabbits etc., but obviously not that . Jackie x 4 lovely girls~~ Clover, the oldie and top chick Bonnie second in command .new girls Bluebell and Blossom.

Re: Any ideas what this is ?I get the odd one or two in my huge chicken area and have seen the odd brown bottom retreating, sure it was a mouse.
Re: Any ideas what this is ?Bumble bees apparently like to nest in mouse holes, so next year you may get them
too! "He who is cruel to animals becomes hard also in his dealings with men. We can judge the heart of a man by his treatment of animals."
--Immanuel Kant Re: Any ideas what this is ?I think there are several possible explanations. Field voles seem the most obvious, but also birds with large beaks like woodpeckers or crows can make holes like that when digging for grubs etc.
