I've tried planting out twice....
One lasted about 2 years and the other one just didn't take off at all.
Any success stories?

Re: Successful cultivation of used Christmas TreesAbout 50/50 sounds average.
But there is another way. Jim planted several over the years and they grew too big, so bought one, planted it out straight away and cut off the leader from that years tree. It grew a new leader. There are several in the garden so I can usually find a bit to bring in (not always the straightest, most symmetrical). This year my daughter came and cut down 'her' tree from my wilderness and after they had trimmed it my grandson presented me with the bottom branch as my tree. I wouldn't stand up, so I ended up with a bunch of branches! But I HAD to use it. It's gone out now - I couldn't wait till 12th night.
