Went out for a walk with the grandchildren as a bit of exercise while they are home schooling. They had a challenge to see how many flowers they could spot. They knew the names of some, I knew most but was stumped with the ones that climb over walls. Mauve flowers and white flowers. Ever so common, but I've no idea what it's called (so how can I look them up?) I've asked them to email me the list of those they can remember - and I'm trying too.
My mother was not a great gardener but taught me lots of names of flowers and weeds. I still remember a project of pressing and drawing rose bay willow herb etc some 60years ago! Anyhow I think you might mean the low growing creeper that flowers in spring as the plant aubrieta (spoken as Orbreesha) Look it up I hope it’s the one.
I believe it can be white as well, but mainly various shades of mauve. There is plenty in my village in the U.K. but I must look carefully here, as I have never seen it in Menorca. I expect though, that by the time our lockdown ceases, it will be all over. Not that I am complaining, if in lockdown, I don’t think there is a nicer place.
No we are not allowed out for a walk. Lockdown has been extended to Easter Sunday. All the parks, paths and beaches have been closed for the last week, and this will continue. If you have dogs only one can be walked at a time ( by one person) for 10 minutes. Feel sorry for families in flats with children with not even a balcony, times are difficult. Only one person allowed in a car unless taking someone to a medical appointment. Shops are full of food and people are being respectful and keeping a metre apart. It’s being very well organised, gloves handed out at entrance, cordons marked at tills. Pay by card if possible, so cashier doesn’t have to accept cash. Police on patrols handing out fines if anyone flaunting the rules. We are lucky and have a lovely garden, so our routine is fairly normal, work in the mornings and enjoy a siesta by the pool after lunch .
