Had a visit from fox

Post by redd_angel55 »

When I let the girls out this morning I found a fox poo right next to the run door yike* yike* yike*
I am so glad I decided to shut the girls in their house at night from day one.
When I planned my new run, I was in two minds as to slab the entire inside to make it fox proof, because it will deny the girls of digging in soil, but I am glad I did it anyway. Only last night I though if I should take a couple of slabs out so they can dig {warn}
So, the slabs are staying put and my daughters old sandpit base will go in the run and get filled with soil )t'

You were very lucky, I bet you're so relieved he didn't get in!

Phew, lucky little birdies.
Well done for your fox proofing.

Foxes live in the former gold mines near our property, and we have a *lot*! We had to dig down around the chicken run with 1/2" gauge hardware cloth and back fill to prevent digging. I agree too, that getting the girls in before sunset is also necessary. I like the foxes but have had some misadventures with them- such as they day a screaming orange cat fled from one and climbed me to escape. I looked like I'd been attacked by hawks!
