Mallard's 2013 diary.
Mallard's 2013 diary.I'll start with good intentions! I have a cunning plan, all chalked up on the shed blackboard and most of my seeds at the ready. The manure is spread and some dug in. A Munty frame built for runner beans and the polytunnel prepared for seed trays and melons!
All we need now is better weather! I'd like to live as a poor man with lots of money.
- Pablo Picasso Re: Mallard's 2013 diary.I was looking at a munty this afternoon, trying to decide where I could put it, but I don't have anywhere suitable. so I am going to try a V shaped support this year.
I will keep an eye on your diary, to see how you get on with it. If a man is alone in the garden and speaks, and there is no woman to hear him, is he still wrong?
Re: Mallard's 2013 diary.Hope all your cunning plans work out for you this year Mallard , I,ve not made a start yet but I,m buzzing to get me wellies back on.

Re: Mallard's 2013 diary.I've fetched a handful of runner seeds to propagate on the windowsill.
I had planned a large crop of physalis this year for jam, but it's too late now, no seeds in yet! I filled up the bird feeder and went home. I'd like to live as a poor man with lots of money.

Re: Mallard's 2013 diary.Such a shame about the weather mallard hope it warms up soon

Re: Mallard's 2013 diary.
OK thanks, but everything s been on hold till this week because of the weather! I managed to get the spuds in yesterday along with onion sets and lots of seeds in trays in the polytunnel. I took home the season's first harvest today, they're now stewed with golden syrup and ginger, just waiting for ice cream! I'd like to live as a poor man with lots of money.

Re: Mallard's 2013 diary.I actually managed to get sunburnt while Jules waved a flag for St.George!
The first runner bean decided to show. The magical herb mugwort looks set to take over! And of all things, last years lunch, a nectarine! The onion sets are doing well after the frosts, and lots of seeds sown today. I'd like to live as a poor man with lots of money.

Re: Mallard's 2013 diary.Something going to plan so far, melons! Done the trellis in a blistering 90ºF.
And the seedlings are doing nicely too! I'd like to live as a poor man with lots of money.

Re: Mallard's 2013 diary. At last things are moving!
Even the Kiwi fruit has flowers! The late raspberries look healthy after their move. Herbs are going mad! The fleeces are to keep the pigeons off. Goji berry seems to be going for it this season. The second planting of parsnips after the frost did the first! Rockets living up to their name. Runner beans setting off up the munty frame. Outdoor girl toms, not big enough yet! Ditto the leeks. I'd like to live as a poor man with lots of money.
