Re: HappyBobs 2013 Dairy
do tell Re: HappyBobs 2013 DairyDidnt get too much gardening done yesterday as i went to poultry auction across the river to have a look at if they had any light suffolks which they only had two lots each with a cockeral which I didnt want and knew no one who would take him. So I ended up succesfully bidding on 3 Point-of-Lay hybrids and 4 others which I think could be cross Plymouth Rocks but not too sure.
All day yesterday the fun and games as to who will be top dog started and the poor old hybrids being a little younger spent the day on top of the coop or hid away under the coop . I,m just about to pop down to the allotment to see how they all got on., on their 1st night in their new home. Will put some pics up later..... PS ...if any of the mods feel its not appropriate to mix chicken theme with the gardening dairys please feel free to move to the most suitable section. Dont ever grow up, its a trap
Re: HappyBobs 2013 DairyLook forward to seeing your new girls, you could have eaten the cockerels

I,m slowly psyching myself up for the full cockeral dispatching thingy Angela, today I cut the head off my hard boiled egg and didnt flinch, I was quite mercyless in fact (has anyone any thoughts on the merits of Quorn Burgers ) Dont ever grow up, its a trap
Re: HappyBobs 2013 Dairy
One step at a time then Bob, Angela
Usually Barking Up the Wrong Tree Re: HappyBobs 2013 DairyAs no one has objected to me post chickeny things in my allotment dairy below are a few pics of my girls, could anyone tell me what the white ones are or maybe crossed with please.
Within five minutes exploring their new home.. At this point the three Point-of-Lay hybrids prefared to stay out of the race to see who top dog will be. This girl seems to be slowly getting everyone in order All seem happy with their new pad. Dont ever grow up, its a trap
Re: HappyBobs 2013 DairyI havnt a clue what they are Bob but they are lovely looking girls all of them
Im not suprised they are happy with thier new home its smashing and they look well settled all ready If you dont get any info on your girls you could always put a photo on chicken keeping with a note saying that you have them on your garden diary, and then if anyone dosent come on this thread they know you have them. Phew!! sorry Bob i cant use 5words when I can use 40 but you get my drift hopefully Any how happy hen keeping to you, Mrs Bob and the grandkids will love them, i know mine do Lindaxx And then there was one, Again!!!!

Thanks for taking the time Angela. Haha 4 of them have been given names, the one in the 1st photo has been given the name Chilli Pepper by the grandkids as they say she is the best looking (hottest) out of the flock, and one of the hybrids is a little smaller then her two mates so she they called her baby Scarlett after their young cousin who is 6 month old. The other two hybrids are to be called Nora and Flora which their Nanna sugested and the two of em fell over laughing. To be honest Angala Scarlett is my fav, she gets bullied from each of the bigger white chickens but she is very determined and tries to stand her ground plus she is the only one of the hybrids laying at the moment... Dont ever grow up, its a trap
Re: HappyBobs 2013 Dairy
Thanks Linda, they seem to have settled down lovely, still a bit of pecking going on but nothing too drastic. No need to be sorry about using 40 words instead of 5, I have been accused on more then one occasion of being able to "chew the fat" as they say down these parts. And happy hen keeping back to you Linda, and your right about Mrs HB and the GKids loveing them, my two grandsons have rung up the last few nights to ask how they are getting on and how many egss did they lay.. Dont ever grow up, its a trap
Re: HappyBobs 2013 Dairy
a favourite ! you can't have a favourite I like the idea of having a "hot chick" amongst the flock Angela
